Did you know that 15% of the world’s population live in mountainous regions and that they are home to around half of the world’s #biodiversity hotspots? Half of humanity also depend on mountains for their freshwater. On #InternationalMountainDay, it’s a good opportunity to start thinking about how to protect #LifeOnLand from the threat of #ClimateChange and #overexploitation.
The video below showcases the hundreds of peaks above 3000 meters in height in #Taiwan—the largest mountain density of any island around the world—a precious gift that we need to conserve.
