Hadith:
“Allah does not look at your bodies or your faces, but He looks at your hearts and your actions.” -Muslim
Focusing on the outer and neglecting the inner is what the hypocrites were described as,
“And when you see them, their bodies please you” (Surat Al-Munafiqoun v. 4)
These bodies are not temples that we worship, they are tools that we use to worship Allah.
Nights spent in face masks, and days spent in front of mirrors and cameras. All the beauty products in the world in the hopes that people like what they see when they look at us.
But Allah does not look at any of that. He looks at our hearts and our actions. We should be even more concerned that they are presentable and acceptable to Him.
A movement of your thumb,
And flaws are hidden,
Every blemish, scar and mole,
The right lighting, 30 tries,
And being picture perfect,
Is under your control,
But just know,
That you can’t put a filter, on your soul
