If Italy is love of my life, then Spain is my that friend who helped me to become braver.

I took my first solo trip to Spain exactly 5 years ago on this very month. I still remember the day. It was first of July. When and where was your first solo trip? How’s it?

I lived in UK before for my study, away from my home and family. So it may come as surprise to you if I say I never travelled alone before Spain. It was always with family or friends, even in UK. So planning a solo trip to Spain was like a whole new experience to me.

Like any other south-east Asian family, my parents were pretty over protective too. It wasn’t easy to convince them, but they have a stubborn daughter as well. They couldn’t understand why would anyone want to travel alone! What fun in it? I asked myself the same question. Why? And the stubborn girl inside asked me back, “why not?” 🤷‍♀️

It was an eye opening journey. It turned me into a dream chaser from a dream maker. It made me realize how lil credit I used to give myself. It helped me to understand my self worth. It taught me to trust my gut feelings and my strength more. It gave me the confidence to explore beyond my comfort zone and make friends out of strangers. At the end it made me a storyteller. 🙂

5 years ago, as a solo traveller I was pretty naive. I didn’t have any fancy camera, nor I was any good at taking breathtaking shots. All I had with me was my pretty basic old iPhone. I was mostly busy to observe and enjoy than taking pictures. I hardly have my own pictures from that trip. Even though my camera’s memory was less full, but my own memory is full of beautiful moments.

If you are reading this caption, and contemplating whether to take a solo trip, my earnest suggestion to you would be “YES”! Just take that first step and it will open all the doors for you. Trust yourself! ❤️❤️

Location: Sant Pau, Barcelona. If you think that amazing building is some sort of museum or decorative monument, you are wrong. This is the most beautiful hospital I have seen in my life. I literally went to see it twice. If the hospital is this charming, then I would not mind to be a patient. 😍

Short summary for the first half of my Latin America trip (Argentina & Chile)

1. The most handsome guys: Argentinians
หล่อสุดยกให้หนุ่มอาร์เจนตินา เดินมา 10 หล่อ 7 หน้าตาแบบสแปนิชหรืออิตาเลี่ยน สูงยาวเข่าดี

2. The most beautiful ladies: Tahiti/ Easter islanders
สวยและเซ็กซี่สุด ขอยกให้สาวชาวเกาะตาฮิติหรือบนเกาะอีสเตอร์ค่ะ

3. The most amazing landscapes: Patagonia region; Glacier Perito Metano in Argentina/ Torres del Paine in Chile
ธรรมชาติสวยสุดๆที่ปาตาโกเนีย มุมไหนก็สวยทั้งฝั่งอาร์เจนตินาและชิลี

4. The most lovely town: El Calafate in Argentina
เมืองน่ารักน่าอยู่ที่สุด แบบให้ไปใช้ชีวิตอยู่ได้เลย

5. The best hostel: America de Sur in El Calafate
โฮสเทลดีงามที่สุดในทริป วิวสวย ห้องดี อาหารอร่อย พนักงานสวยหล่อและเป็นมิตร

6. The most touristic place: Ushuaia
สถานที่ที่ดูเป็นเมืองท่องเที่ยวที่สุดคืออูชัวย่า (วัดจากจำนวนทัวร์จีนด้วยนะค๊ะ)

7. The best food: Argentinian beef/ Chilean seafood, just need to be careful of the serving size. Here is double than European size. ActualIy I would say the best meals for me are when my friend cooks hot soup for our dinner and home-cooked dinner at our Aussie friends in Santiago.

8. The most exciting time: Valparaiso/Santiago when we were meeting drunkies, stuck in traffic due to students fight, missing bus from Valparaiso, getting lost with the taxi and rushing to collect Bolivia visa before the embassy closed. As said, everything can be happen and flexible in Santiago.
วันที่ตื่นเต้นที่สุดในซานติอาโก เดินผ่านกลุ่มคนเมา รถติดท่ามกลางกลุ่มวัยรุ่นทะเลาะกันจนมีทหารมาปราบปราม ตกรถบัส หลงทางกับแท๊กซี่ วิ่งไปเอาวีซ่าที่สถานฑูตโบลิเวีย สายไป 1 ชั่วโมงแต่พี่เจ้าหน้าที่ก็ยังชิลล์อยู่เลย รีบแทบตาย

9. Music and dancing are everywhere
คนที่นี่ชอบเสียงเพลงและชอบเต้น บางทีก็อยากบอกว่าตีสองตีสามแล้ว หนูจะนอนนนนน

10. People like to clap their hands loudly when the flight has landed.
คนที่นี่จะปรบมือเสียงดังให้กัปตัน หลังเครื่องบินลงจอดอย่างปลอดภัย ไม่ว่าจะจอดนิ่มๆหรือจอดกระแทก เหมือนเป็นธรรมเนียมปฏิบัติ

11. You can take "right hand side rule" for great views either by plane or by bus, it is always more beautiful than the left.
คุณสามารถเลือกใช้กฏมือขวาในการเลือกที่นั่งบนเครื่องหรือบนรถบัส (ถ้าเลือกได้) วิวด้านขวามักสวยกว่าวิวด้านซ้ายเสมอ

12. All airports and bus terminals are very good and convenience. Security check at airport is not so strict. No need to take off shoe/jacket/laptop/water bottle/liquid bag etc. It is more strict for food/fruits/plant or dairy products on board especially in Chile. So far we have not faced any delay neither by plane nor by bus, they were on time or even before scheduled.

13. The best internet surfing/ wifi connection: Everywhere in Santiago; airport, hostel, cafe เมืองใหญ่อย่างซานติอาโกมีอินเตอร์เนตแรงและเร็วที่สุด ทั้งที่สนามบิน โฮสเทล และคาเฟ่ร้านอาหารต่างๆ ที่อื่นอาจต้องมีเตรียมใจทำใจกันบ้างนะคะ

14. Almost everything is started late e.g. Breakfast 8-8:30hr, lunch 12-14:00hr, dinner 19:30-21:00hr, party 23-03:00hr and it is very common to see cafe/ coffee shop opening at night.
คนที่นี่เค้าทานอาหารกันค่อนข้างสาย อาหารเช้าเริ่มเร็วสุด 8 โมง อาหารเที่ยงต้องรอหลังเที่ยง มื้อเย็นนี่เกือบสอง-สามทุ่ม วัยรุ่นปาร์ตี้กันดึกดื่น และอาจจะแปลกใจที่เห็นร้านกาแฟ (ไม่ใช้ผับหรือบาร์) เปิดตอนดึกๆ

15. Big dogs and cats are everywhere, so look out for the shits
คนที่นี่ชอบเลี้ยงหมาเลี้ยงแมวค่ะ ตัวใหญ่ๆทั้งนั้น แบบพันธุ์ดีๆสวยๆ แต่ปล่อยตามถนนเลย เดินกันยั้วเยี้ย ขี้ก็ยั้วเยี้ยด้วย ระวังเหยียบเพราะโดนมาแล้ว ใครที่ไม่ชอบหรือกลัวหมาแมวต้องทำใจหน่อยนะคะ

16. It is customary to leave a 10% tip on the total value of the account, in cafes, restaurants and bars. Porters, guides and service providers also expect a tip.

17. The most colorful towns: La Boca in Argentina is small and easy to walk around and chill out while Valparaiso in Chile is much bigger and more graffiti, both are extremely colorful

18. Missing places that I regret the most, definitely time was too short to discover everything. "Patagonia" has many more to see and to trek, we missed the north part and W circuit trek (also didn't see the Mt. Fitz Roy). Same as "San Pedro de Atacama", the wonderful desert area with various landscapes and activities. We missed the death and moon valleys, must come back next time.

In general, traveling or backpacking in Argentina and Chile is very pleasant, safe and more comfortable than expected. It could be solo, with partner or with group.
We can speak zero Spanish and we are survived. Argentinians and Chileans are lovely, friendly and welcoming.
โดยรวม การเดินทางหรือการแบคแพคเที่ยวในอาร์เจนตินาและชิลีดีงามกว่าที่คิดไว้เยอะค่ะ สะดวกและปลอดภัยกว่าที่คิดเยอะมาก จะมาเดี่ยว มาคู่ มากลุ่ม ได้หมด (อยากประหยัด 3-4 คนนี่กำลังดีเลย) พูดภาษาสเปนไม่ได้ไม่ใช่ปัญหา ต่างคนต่างหาวิธีเข้าใจกันและกันด้วยวิธีที่แตกต่างกันไป ภาษามือบ้าง google translate บ้าง รอยยิ้มและภาษาใจบ้าง ภาษาอ่านค่อนข้างง่ายเพราะคำหลายคำคล้ายภาษาอังกฤษ ผู้คนที่นี่ก็น่ารักมาก เป็นมิตรและคอยช่วยเหลือเป็นอย่างดี

Last but not least, I have met lots of new friend traveling from all over the world; Argentina, Chile, UK, Greece, Malaysia, Singapore, France, Canada, Australia, Belgium Switzerland. Sharing experience and tales from the journey are the beauty of traveling and very inspiring.

Hiking Kennall Vale Nature Reserve has got to be one of my favorite hiking trips so far!

This amazing hidden gem is found in Cornwall, UK and is home to stunning nature, with the ruins of Kennall Vale Gunpowder Factory being taken over by the dense nature around it. It is a short hike but the unique views of the ruins and rivers makes for a truly breath taking hiking trip and a must visit if you are in Cornwall.

In this video I explore the Kennall Vale Nature Reserve, hiking through the ruins and along the river; doing the whole hiking trail. I really hope you enjoy this hiking vlog and let me know if you would like to see more Cornwall hiking!
