Hi founders,Last month we took a trip to KKday’s office to visit one of our mentors, Ming Chen, the CEO and founder. KKday is the leading e-commerce travel platform that connects travelers with authentic local tours & activities. Based in Taiwan, KKday was hit hard by COVID-19 towards the beginning of the year, but as Taiwan was able to handle the pandemic well, local tourism boomed and KKday was able to make a comeback during the summer vacations.Ming shared with us about his founder journey and how he manages the helm of his ship. He has been devoting himself to the online travel industry since 1999 and has over 18 years of experience in the industry with multiple exits (易遊網、燦星、易飛網). During the height of the pandemic, Ming showed both strength and vulnerability, which kept the morale of the team. In board meetings, Ming consistently gives credit to his coworkers and executive team, and allows for a culture where innovation and new ideas thrive. By delegating well and entrusting his team to get things done, Ming is seen as a great leader from within and from outside of KKday.Since my college days, I’ve always been interested in leadership - not just for myself but how to identify good leaders around me. One of my favorite things about working at AppWorks is being surrounded by those who are better than me so that I can constantly grow. 疫情前我比較少有時間發文, 台灣的一些朋友們也不知道我去哪裡了. 但是有些有常常在聯絡的朋友都知道我在哪裡. 他們都會問我回國了沒😂？第一次遇到阿曼也是在他自己主辦單位的活動. 自從拍攝的那次後他的經紀人喜歡我的拍攝. 我們就開始一直聯絡了. 後來我跟曼兄還有他的經紀人請我當他的專屬攝影師我們也跑了4個音樂季的活動. 在短短的2個月我們去了 🇯🇵日本, 🇰🇷韓國, 🇲🇾馬來西亞,🇺🇸拉斯維加斯. 重點是在亞洲區的活動, 在他表演之前他都會默默的跑去人群中跟大家一起嗨一起跳. 他的set要來放歌的時候他就回到了舞台上面, 跟他剛剛在嗨的觀眾都會嚇到說他剛剛有在跟們一起嗨..原來他就是阿曼😂. 我要謝謝他的經紀人也把我介紹了給他們旁邊的唱片公司還有他們合作的製作人. 那兩個月真的感覺很棒我也認識到他們公司的人. 在世界國際舞台上拍攝的生活真的很棒也體驗到不同的人生. “🔥🔥 曼兄現在是世界百大排行榜第4名的DJ”.

Before the Pandemic Covid-19. I don’t have that much time to post things on my Facebook or Instagram Because I was soo busy traveling to different countries with Artists. My friends always asking me that If I’m back to Taiwan?😂 My first time meet Armin Van Buuren was at his own event “A State of Trance”. After the event his managers and agents loves my images and contacted me. They have me on his tours and we travel to 4 different countries for his festival event. I love before his sets, he will go fool around with the fans until his sets starts just to make the fans surprised that he was just next to them. 😂 I wanna thank to their Agents for recommending me to their business partners also their senior partners including record company. While travel with them, I learned a lot of things and meet a lot of new friends and people. Because of him I get more opportunity and experience to be on the top of the stage to documenting the all types of events. 🔥🔥currently Armin Van Burren is top4 best DJ in the world right now on Top100 DJ Listing”.

幾年前，在第一次訪問馬庫路（香蕉）瀑布之後，我向大武村的村民詢問該瀑布的名字。他們告訴我，瀑布沒有名字，也不想為其命名。這對我而言是個問題，因為在我的地圖系統中，每個欄位都必須填上內容。我的網站上有一個「地名」的欄位，而它無法留空。因此，我請朋友來幫助我填空。他們非常認真，在經過深思熟慮，從黑熊和雲豹的原住民寓言故事中獲取靈感：「馬庫路瀑布」。 [https://futureparenting.cwgv.com.tw/family/content/index/4337

而在將這瀑布發佈在我的網站後，一些評論提到「當地孩童稱其為香蕉瀑布」因此我也將該名稱添加到了我的網站中。該網站顯示了全台灣的瀑布地圖；它的使命是讓任何人都能接觸到這些瀑布，並讓大家更容易親近自然。所以，儘管在成立此網站五年後，用戶量很高，我仍然沒有放任何的廣告，因為那不是我網站的重點。對我而言，這並非營利事業。這些地圖可供所有人免費使用。這也是為什麼，當我看到該瀑布商業化的新法規上，出現了我網站上所發布的名稱時，不禁感到萬分驚訝：這代表著，這個區域不再只是一個隨便外國部落格上的「馬庫路瀑布」了，因為在台灣法條中也是「馬庫路瀑布」。如今看來格外諷刺：我選擇與所有人共享的瀑布名字，也同時出現在將我阻擋在該瀑布外的法條裡。這使我不禁多想：如果我當初沒有發布該地點的訊息，今天是否還會有這些商業觀光團的出現呢？

After visiting Makulu (banana) waterfall for the first time several years ago I asked some villagers in Dawu Village for the name of the waterfall. They both told me that the waterfall had no name, and didn't want to offer a new name for it. That presented a problem for me, because in my mapping system each location has to have a it's own name. There is a "place name" entry field on my website and I can't leave it blank. So I asked a friend to help me fill in that space. They took it very seriously, and after much deliberation came back with "Makulu", from the fable of the black bear and the clouded leopard.

Later after publishing this waterfall, some commenters mentioned that "the local kids call it Banana Waterfall" so I also added that name to my website. This website shows maps of waterfalls all over Taiwan with the express mission of making them more accessible to all people, and bringing everyone closer to nature. Despite the high number of users on this site, there are still no ads posted there, even after 5 years, because that isn't the point of my website. It's not a commercial venture. These maps are free for everyone to use. That's why it came as some surprise to me that the new regulation for commercializing this waterfall used the same name that was first published on my website. This area isn't just "makulu waterfall" on some random foreigners blog anymore. It's now also "makulu waterfall" in Taiwanese law. How ironic that the name I choose to share it with everyone is also the name that's used to keep me out. Would selling tours there still be an option if I hadn't published it?
