【感謝歐洲議會通過報告案 積極推動台歐盟投資協定】

外交部感謝 #歐洲議會 通過「新冠肺炎疫情的貿易面向及其影響」報告，這份報告促請歐盟執委會積極推動台歐盟雙邊投資協定，這也是歐洲議會此次會期第5度通過與台灣相關的決議與報告！

重點有兩個：

🔹與 #台灣半導體 產業展開對話

報告呼籲執委會徹底檢視並避免相關新興科技落入極權國家（真的很重要），並且與 #理念相近夥伴 就供應鏈合作展開對話，其中特別要求與 台灣半導體產業對話。

🔹加快腳步推動台灣歐盟雙邊投資協定

呼籲執委會實質強化與台灣的投資貿易關係，重申台歐雙邊對話的重要性，包括在 #多邊主義、#WTO議題、#公衛 及 #半導體供應鏈合作 等議題。

外交部對歐洲議會再度以具體行動展現對台灣的強烈支持，表達高度歡迎與誠摯感謝。

MOFA would like to thank the European Parliament for the #Taiwan-friendly language used in the recently adopted resolution on trade-related aspects and implications of #COVID19.

The resolution calls on the European Commission to engage in dialogue on semiconductors with Taiwan, as one of a range of measures aimed at limiting technology transfers from the #EU to authoritarian states. It also urges the commission to move forward with an investment agreement with Taiwan.

This is the 5th time the Ninth European Parliament has adopted a resolution or report supporting investment agreement talks with Taiwan.

Taiwan’s strategic role in the #ICT and #semiconductor global supply chains has only increased in importance since the outbreak of the pandemic last year. MOFA hopes that in the #PostPandemicEra, Taiwan can work in partnership with the EU on the global supply chains surrounding semiconductors, 5G and green energy.

為什麼在台灣，椰子口味的玉米脆條被視為幸運符，能確保高科技機器的協作呢？

😻Crisps have a sacred role in office culture. They are the perfect mid-morning pick-me-up, the moreish side to a light sandwich lunch, or the fuel that keeps us going when meetings run past mealtimes.
脆條在辦公室文化中扮演著神聖的角色，它們是上午的完美提神零食，輕食三明治午餐中令人欲罷不能的配菜，或是當會議超過用餐時間，讓我們持續下去的燃料。

🚥But in Taiwan, one particular brand of crisps does more than keep hunger pangs at bay. Many of the island’s machines – from cash machines to radio transmission towers – seem to rely on the presence of green bags of puffy, coconut-flavoured corn crisps to stay in tip-top condition.
但在台灣，有個特別的脆條品牌不但能緩解飢餓，島上許多機器，從自動提款機到無線電發射塔，似乎都靠這款綠色包裝的蓬鬆椰子口味玉米脆條來保持最佳狀態。

🤔 But how did this savoury product end up assuming near-mythical protective properties and, in a technologically advanced society that supplies most of the world’s semiconductors, why exactly do people buy into it?
但這香鹹產品怎麼會獲得神奇的保護力呢？而且在這提供全世界大部分半導體、科技先進的社會裡，人們又為何會相信這事呢？

Today MOFA Minister Joseph Wu gave an address at the EU-Taiwan Supply Chains Forum, stating #Taiwan’s readiness to collaborate with the #EU in its pursuit of open strategic autonomy, particularly in the fields of #semiconductors, #5G networks, and #biotechnology.

Given the EU’s trade policy focus on the #AsiaPacific region and how the #COVID19 pandemic has highlighted the dangers of over-reliance on one country or region, Taiwan is willing to work together with our EU partners towards developing more robust and resilient supply chains. The parallels between Taiwan’s focus on #GreenEnergy and technological innovation and the EU’s economic recovery plans centered on green energy and the #DigitalEconomy, mean we are ideally placed as an indispensable partner for the EU in the region.

Taiwanese investments in the EU’s semiconductor industry this year have already exceeded 4.35 billion euros, the largest figure for a single year ever.
