Although there are lots of Italian restaurants in Hong Kong, homemade pasta is not so widely popular as making fresh pasta takes patience and attention to the intricate details of the process. However, you can find every dish made in-house from scratch at Casa Cucina & Bar located at Sai Ying Pun. Formerly of Two- Michelin Guide -starred Amber at The Landmark Mandarin Oriental, Hong Kong Executive Chef Anthony Cheung brings a Cicchetti-inspired menu featuring a limited selection of dishes all made in-house. This restaurant has three floors of intimate dining space which looks like a resort hotel, no wonder it has become an Instagram favorite since its grand opening.
Burrata $105
This appetizer resembles the "red, white, and green" colors of the Italian flag. The softness and delightful milky aroma of buffalo cheese are irresistible. The seasonings allow the delicate flavor of the cheese to shine through. When cut open, the creamy interior of Burrata is revealed as it slowly seeps from the centre like rich cream. It tastes cool and refreshing and that's why is a great choice for appetizer in summer.
Duck Ragu Pappardelle $178
This pasta with double-seared duck breast chicken, liver parfait and French yellow wine topped with Parmesan is one of the Casa signature dishes. The biggest difference between fresh pasta and dried pasta is the springy texture which offers an al dente bite. Pappardelle goes wonderfully with a hearty, meaty Duck Ragu sauce.
Chicken Parmigiana $168
It is a classic Italian dish of breaded chicken breast covered in melty mozzarella cheese and is served with bright and tangy tomato sauce to provide a contrast to the fried cutlets and rich cheese. The coating is flavorful and crispy.
Braised Ox Cheek $218
Slow-cooking is perfect for ox cheek meat which is a thick working muscle. It turns this tough meat into a wonderfully rich and tender delicacy. Ox cheek is braised in red wine, every mouthful is juicy and luscious. It matches in a perfect way with the deep, warm, complex flavours of red wine.
Tiramisu $58
Tiramisu is a rich treat blending the bold flavors of cocoa and espresso, the cake melts in the mouth without being too sweet.
Tofu Panna Cotta $58
This panna cotta does not taste like usual because it is inspired by Hong Kong's favourite "Tofu Fa", made with fresh tofu and topped with a toffee-like-sweet syrup made with red sugar and light soy sauce. Its delicate sweetness and smooth tofu texture make it a perfect treat at the end of a meal.

Seduced the moment you step onto the luscious green of the lawn and gaze upon the Bauhaus-style villa.
From the ambient lighting to the lofty ceilings, understating placement of wall art and crisp linen tablecloth, comes the discovery that everything constructed here is artfully calculated yet entirely enchanting.
The same could be said of the dining experience. Chef Christian Martena is no stranger to Thailand, and neither is his skill to local foodies, a reputation which precedes him and only in high praise. Needless to say, we had to agree in the end.
Fine Italian cuisine is always a pleasing affair but can also be terribly predictable, in the case of Clara's fine modern Italian cuisine, it seems they have mastered the balance between traditional sophisticated Italian fare and innovative adaptations, whilst integrating local ingredients.
This could be said of practically all dishes, mostly with respect to the red prawn, 3 cherries, Taragon and chips made of bisque which aroma hits you in an instant and flavours; although smooth and refreshing, packs that kind of "morish" punch you least expect.
But the most plain - looking dish, the Calamaro, had all the fun and complexity hidden underneath. The tender squid combined with potato yogurt mousse is boosted by citrus notes and a touch of smokiness. The squid cracker accompanied with the dish adds an extra layer of crunch and savouriness, to complete the umami effect. Precision and creative intelligence, a very Italian dish per se, yet one that reminds us of Japanese ways. Not an easy feat to achieve.
The only dish which did fall a little flat was the duck, with a salty sauce and chewy texture, a surprising choice when one is half expecting some genius flavours coming from a beef or venison component to compliment the flavour profiles of the entire course.
Still not enough to deflect the fact that this meal is one of the best we've had in 2020.

❤️ Đây hông phải là bài rì viu - This is not a review post 😗
------------
It's just a post to brag about this amazing pizza :> Perfect crust, perfect dough, cooked to perfection... Stuffed with fillings 🤤 And those 2 pieces of toast, with anchovies, green sauce, butter, tasted like heaven!
The best Italian restaurant of our heart, from the quality to the price, we could even close our eyes and choose a random dish, still good (except the Lasagna tho, what a shame for such a perfect menu). They suprise us every single time. At first glance, they seemed to be pricy, but look at that giant pizza, that passed the border of the wooden board, a portion of pasta can fit easily for 2 people just around 180-190k, all with imported ingredients! 😭
Through all those years off digging for food, it's not easy at all to find a perfect place for yourself.
We won't give you the address though :> Cuz we've reviewed this place twice already 😜

I would like to introduce you my favourite childhood dish: The Best Minced Beef Rice (Bolognese in old Hong Kong Style) with Fried Egg.
This is not only my favourite childhood dish but also the favourite dish for Hong Kong people who born in 1960s-1980s. Since the chefs in old Hong Kong did not have Italian ingredients and herbs on hand. They used the limited ingredients to create such incredible dish using soy sauce, ketchup and at most tomato paste instead. The taste of this meat sauce was so unique and mouthwatering that every child loves it, or even we adults nowadays. We always love to serve this dish with rice and Fried egg with a running yolk.
Even nowadays, it is still the popular dish served in Hong Kong style teahouses. Let's make one to see the differences between the old Hong Kong Style and Italian style. I am sure it will give you a surprise (of course in a good way )
Minced Beef Rice (Bolognese in old Hong Kong Style) with Fried Egg (for 4 ppl)
Ingredients:
Ground Beef (can be half beef half pork) 375g
1 Onion
1 Carrot
4-5 cloves garlic
4tbsp frozen green pea
Some cooked rice
4 sunny shine up egg (panfried egg)
Marination:
1.5 tbsp light soy sauce
1tbsp sugar
1tsp potato flour
½ cup water
Sauce ingredients:
2 tbsp tomato paste
4 tbsp ketchup
2-3 tbsp light soy sauce
A few bay leaves
700ml chicken broth/ water
2-3 tsp chicken powder stock (if water but not chicken broth is added)
A pitch of salt for seasoning
A pitch of sugar for seasoning

NOTE: Spaghetti Napolitan sounds like an Italian dish BUT it is a typical Japanese pasta dish made at home and served at restaurants nationwide. Nothing related to Napolitana and the main seasoning is Tomato Ketchup. It is a must.
Frozen Udon noodles are just perfect! Noodles won't go too soft but very chewy yet elastic even after you pan fry them 👍
Napolitan is well balanced with meat and vegetables. Easy for kids to eat!

Sapporo Ichiban Original (we call it Shoyu Flavor in Japan) by Sanyo Foods is a very popular instant Ramen noodle product in Japan. The included soup seasoning packet derived from chicken stock, soy sauce, and mixture of vegetables and spices, makes Napolitan very tasty. Must TRY 😉
