Happy Independence Day Malaysia! 🇲🇾✨
Let’s take a look at this case where the central incisors decided to be “independent” of each other….Yeap, we’re talking about Median Diastema [spacing between your front teeth].🤗
Why not Braces? 🤔 Answer’s in the second part of this caption.☺️But first, let’s walk through the treatment. 🦷
To achieve this result:
Composite Restoration removal • Smile Design • In-office Dental Whitening • Mock-Up • 8 unit Composite Veneers
Patient initially came in with old, overhanging composite filling on her centrals (swipe left to see). Note that how the overhanging margins have caused Gingivitis!
We discussed about the treatment option of getting Orthodontics treatment (“braces”) to close the gap after filling removal, but before that, we have to consider 2 things:
🦷 Width of the Central Incisors and the Laterals might not be of the proper proportion after filling removal. IPR may be required on the laterals to balance out the ratio.
🦷Patient still has a Class III occlusion (lower teeth are in a more “frontward” position) despite having Braces done before. We might need lower IPR/premolar extractions/retraction with TADs if we were to close that upper teeth gap.
A few other treatment options were discussed and in the end, she decided to proceed with composite veneers.
It is important to discuss treatment options with the patient and go through the pros and cons with them. I always allow my patients to think about their treatment options for a few weeks prior finalising the treatment plan to better the outcome and expectations.☺️
Have a great holiday and a great week ahead yall!🤗

OOTD? Best thing you can wear is…a beautiful smile! And I like to think dentists as tailors who are able to make this “outfit” of yours a little nicer…aren’t we?😆
In this case, patient had veneers placed by beautician a long time ago, after removal & gingivectomy, we’ve decided to redo all her veneers to elevate her smle.
To achieve this result:
Veneers Removal • Laser Gingivectomy • Smile Design • In-Office Whitening • No-Prep Composite Veneers
I personally love the shape of her central incisors, but a rounded line angle & less tapered tooth form is able to make her smile look a bit more feminine.
We proceed with 8-units composite veneers with injection molding technique with @GC G-aenial Universal Injectable Composite (Shade BW) & GC Exaclear Silicone template, and minor touch ups with @dental2u composite instruments.
A beautiful smile is one that looks good from the front as well as from the side. Happy to say that she has a set of smile that looks better than before!
Last words? Get your teeth done by a dentist in a proper dental clinic. Take care of your teeth, you only have one set of them!🤗
Special thanks to my mentor Dr @hakienoon for guiding me in my smile makeover journey.

Happy International Dentist’s Day! 🥳🦷Let’s talk Fluorosis.
Little back story about this case, patient was concerned about the white spots of his teeth and was about to go for fake veneers at a beautician in Malacca. A day before his “appointment”, he went on YouTube to do some research and found a video of mine explaining about the dangers of fake veneers. He immediately cancelled the appointment and....this is the story of how we met! (Till this day I still find it amazing that I get to connect with new people through this way!😆🤩)
Now, let’s get real.
In this case (which does NOT require veneer), icon resin infiltration has been done for this patient 2 weeks after his in-office dental whitening. Composite fillings were done for the cavitated lesions and caries after the resin infiltration as well. Conservative Dentistry is always my go-to when it comes to treatment plans.🤗
Now, how does the white spots appear?
Fluorosis are also commonly known as “white spots” on teeth. It can also appear as brown spots or mixed-coloured spots on your teeth. It is typically generalised (found on not only one but a good few tooth), and is caused by excessive fluoride ingestion at young age. (Don’t swallow your toothpaste when you’re a kid guys.) Common treatments include:
- Dental Whitening
- Microabrasion
- Resin infiltration
- Fillings/ Veneers/ other forms of Restorative treatments
Hope you guys enjoyed this little sharing. Have a great evening ahead!🦷
