Bahasa Mandarin di Sekolah Rendah Islam Swasta

Cucu saya Adelea Jasmyn belajar bahasa Mandarin di sekolah. Dia berada di darjah satu. Apa komen dia selepas balik sekolah: "Best Kak Ya belajar bahasa Mandarin"

Memang best kalau kita boleh belajar bahasa asing selain dari bahasa ibunda kita kerana dalam bahasa adalah keilmuan dan kebudayaan. Ada kefasihan bahasa dan keunikan cara fikir.

Saya mempunyai bahasa Inggeris dan Arab yang agak baik...tetapi rasa masih kekurangan lagi. Di zaman dah meningkat usia baru saya nak mula belajar bahasa asing tambahan. Dah agak lambat disebabkan kesebukan yang 'gila'. Pelajar2 di Eropah pasti akan mempunnyai dua tiga bahasa asing apabila tamat sekolah asas. Hebat sistem pendidikan bahasa di sana.

Kalau anda ada peluang dan masa, rebutlah peluang belajar sebanyak mungkin bahasa asing...Spanish, Hebrew, Persian, Russian, Korean, etc. Bahasa tidak ada agama. Bahasa adalah ilmu. Siapa yang tidak mahu belajar bahasa asing - apa sahaja bahasa - adalah mempunyai minda tertutup dan akan kerugian.

"Peranakan", no doubt you've heard it seen it of late and no it's not a type of flesh eating fish but an ancient micro cuisine created by the Karim family of Punjub-Jawi Peranakan, six generations ago in George Town by four generations of women who continued its legacy and further evolution. Now the recipes have been passed down to the very deft hands of a direct descendant, a young man! Chef @nurilkarim

Jawi Peranakan cuisine is known by the Malays as 'food for feasting', when you arrive into this house you immediately feel as though you've stepped into the Jawi House centuries ago.

But don't expect the "traditional" Malaysian classic as an international outsider has come to know and love, expect to have your minds and palates open to a world of spice brought by the Persian, Arab, Indian and Punjabi ancestory.

Penang might feel tiny as a Bangkokian but it's actually bursting with history and delicious surprises at every corner. @ Jawi House Cafe Gallery
