「知ったかぶり」や「とぼける」を英語ではどのように表現するかご存知ですか？日本語をそのまま直訳しようとするとちょっと難しく感じるかもしれませんが、英語では「知っているフリをする」や「知らないフリをする」といった具合に表現するので、実は「〜のフリをする」という言い回しさえ覚えてしまえば簡単なんです。

1) Pretend
→「〜のふりをする / 〜に成りすます」

日本語の「〜のふりをする」「〜に成りすます」「装う」など、実際とは違うように見せかけることを意味する単語です。例えば、「私は喜んだフリをしました」は「I pretended that I was happy.」と表します。
✔使い方：「〜のふりをする」→「Pretend (like/that) _____」or「Pretend to + 動詞」or「Pretend to be + 形容詞」
＜例文＞
Sometimes I pretend that I can't speak English.
（時々、私は英語が話せないフリをします。）
My son likes to pretend that he is Superman.
（私の息子はスーパーマンに成りすますのが好きです。）
I pretended like I didn't know anything.

2) Act like
→「〜のふりをする / 〜に成りすます」

この表現は上記1)を口語的にしただけで意味はPretendと全く同じです。直訳すると「〜のように演じる」や「〜のように振る舞う」となります。
✔使い方：「〜のふりをする」→「Act like _____」
＜例文＞
Brandon acts like he knows everything. It drives me crazy.
（ブランドンは知ったかぶりするからイライラする。）
My coworkers always act like they're busy.
（私の同僚はいつも忙しいフリをしています。）
I acted like I didn't care but to be honest, I was pretty dissapointed.
（気にしてへんようには装ったけども、実際はめっちゃガッカリしたわ・・・）

3) Play dumb
→「知らないふりをする / とぼける」

この表現を直訳すると「馬鹿を演じる」となり、日本語の「とぼける」や「しらばっくれる」を意味します。知っているのに知らないふりをしたり、知識があるのに知識がないふりをするなど、意図的に知らんぷりするニュアンスが含まれます。
✔「Act dumb」とも言う。
＜例文＞
Stop playing dumb. Where did you hide my cell phone?
（とぼけないで！私の携帯をどこに隠したの？）
I'm just going to act dumb and tell her I didn't hear anything.
（彼女には、何も聞いていないってシラを切るよ。）

Hi Everyone
I am Norman Musa the owner of this Facebook Page and last year in January 2020 my page was hacked and taken over by a Vietnamese Hacker who turned the page to Women’s Clothing but still call it as ‘Malaysian Chef’ as they can’t change the name. For months, since last year I kept posting to Facebook with proofs that I am the Page owner.
I only got the page back in the last 24 hours and the hacker changed the ownership again and tried to get it back. They can’t kick me out again as they can’t do anything in 7 days. Last time they pretended as a company 'MUTE SIX' wanting to advertise on my page and asked me to click the link that made me authorised them as the page Admin without me knowing it. They kicked me out immediately.
Please help me by sharing this page as I am hoping the Facebook Team see this. I reported the incident already and I have 6 days before I could potentially lose this page again.
Thank you. PS see below images after they took over my account and deleted all my posts and photos since 2010. How awful.

發想｜
自己很喜歡一個插畫活動帳號（ @stillherestilllife ），他們每週都會po可愛的靜物照片給大家去發揮創作。照片的內容物常常有飲料、甜點，想說藉這次的數位媒體期中來融入那些可愛的元素。
主題｜
以Still Here Cafe的開幕儀式作為這次海報的主題，除了主體畫面還有包含文字資訊，可以說是一個宣傳海報☕️（補充：右上角的紫色物體是個蠟燭+牛奶水龍頭🤣）
This poster’s theme was inspired by @stillherestilllife ! I rlly like the photos they post each week, the art works by other artists are rlly satisfying to see and enjoy. I get hyped up each time there is a new post from them.
Anyways, this poster is for a fictional event that I made up. I pretended that there was a new cafe opening, which is “Still Here Cafe.” The elements in the animation are inspired from #stillherestilllifeweek51 . I had lots of fun making this poster, hope you guys enjoy it too!
心得｜
以前很排斥建模、3D軟體，但因為遇到好老師，總是有很多發揮空間去製作自己有興趣的主題；現在對建模已經改觀了，製作時也都蠻樂在其中的！（掃興的點：電腦跑不太動、程式常常閃退⋯Mac真的不太適合用3D軟體@@）
顏色材質上面還有很多待加強的地方，但電腦真的跑不太動了 嗚嗚⋯⋯希望下次可以更進步～另外，這次還有突破我對Ae的恐懼，嘗試做了簡單的文字特效，成就解鎖！
