The Self, the World, and the Mind...
The Self... (centre): It is said that with a body comes suffering and pain. The outer shell allows means of interaction and engagement with others as well as being the cause of comparison, differences, and the need for physical materials, necessities, and luxuries.
The World... 'Outlook'(right): Examining our rapidly evolving cityscape, the artwork combines and compares traditional Chinese landscapes with a modern cityscape constructed of neon signs and rectangular forms that conveys the structure of the city built on horizontal and vertical axis. Vastly different yet vaguely similar, the piece exceeds boundaries of time and space and also questions what the future may become.
The Mind... '心平則靜Hush' (left): This piece serves as a reminder to retain a calm and peaceful inner state regardless of what is happening in our surroundings or what judgements may arise from the world and the self. Inspired by Chinese sayings, idioms and ancient seals, these elements are transformed into a neon sign to call attention to aspects in life that we should keep in mind.

【 Echoes

Colasa is an avant-garde artist known for his imaginations. In addition to his graffiti art, Colasa also continuously experiences with new materials and substances to enhance the expressiveness of his works.
Colasa was born in Taiwan and majored in art related fields throughout his academic career. After graduating from high school, Colasa fell in love with skateboarding and graffiti. At the time, street culture or subculture was still very new to Taiwan, and so he had to look towards the internet to find anything related graffiti art.
Having studied art since childhood, Colasa insists on the defiance of traditional art forms and adopts a rather unconventional creative method -- graffiti. With his very own unique style and Chinese ink inspired techniques, Colasa is making a name for himself in the international arena!

Glove puppetry - called "budaixi" in Mandarin Chinese, is a type of puppet theater that uses puppets with wooden heads and cloth bodies. It originated during the 17th century in southeastern China's Fujian province and was brought to Taiwan by Fujianese settlers.
In Taiwan, it was one of the most popular forms of entertainment in the old days, before there were movie theaters or television. Over the past centuries, it has survived despite cultural suppression, language restrictions and later competition from modern entertainment.
One of Taiwan's few remaining masters of traditional budaixi, Chen Hsi-huang, the son of famous Taiwanese puppet master Li Tien-lu, is still performing and teaching students at the age of 89.
He tells CNA how he learned the art form and the secret to putting on a good puppet show.
