- Chữa đề Writing thật tiếp theo thôi cả nhà ơi - Đề số 10 nhé: Some people think it is more important to spend public money on promoting a healthy lifestyle in order to prevent illness than to spend it on the treatment for people who are already ill. To what extent do you agree or disagree?
Bài mẫu:
The state spending on public health has become a widely perpetual concern. Some individuals argue that these already scarce resources should be reserved for the prevention of lifestyle-related illness. In my opinion, the government should focus more on the prevention of illnesses rather than medical treatment.
On the one hand, certain acute diseases, non-preventable regardless of governmental efforts to promote a healthy lifestyle, still need a state budget allocation for medical care. One of the primary duties of the government is to provide publicly funded healthcare to the whole population. Therefore, covering therapeutic and medical costs for those already developing symptoms of acute conditions would be a significant part of that duty, helping mitigate the financial burden associated with those maladies. In other words, a dearth of investment in treatment would be devastating patients’ individual life and wreaking havoc on overall social welfare.
On the other hand, promoting a healthy lifestyle as a prevention strategy is meant to avoid the entire economic burden of chronic diseases, affecting a significant proportion of the population. Those conditions, occurring across different life course stages, share common preventable risk factors relating to unhealthy behaviors, including poor nutrition, inadequate physical activity, and chronic heavy drinking and smoking. If left unchecked, trends in chronic diseases risk factors combined with a growing and aging population will increase the numbers of people living with chronic conditions, later causing the heavy burden of illness in patients, their families, and the community. Therefore, given a scarcity of state budgets for various public services, the government should directly provide information, including health education campaigns, or regulating information, such as limits on advertising and guidelines on food labelings. As a result, positive changes in individual lifestyle would follow, helping them withstand the ravages of time, and saving the state budget for other economically beneficial needs, such as technological investment, education, and infrastructure, rather than spending on treatment.
In conclusion, while allocating its healthcare budget in treatment, the government should promote a healthy lifestyle to avoid preventable chronic diseases due to its economic rationality.

Northwest's Salmon Population May Be Running Out of Time
A Washington state report put it bluntly ( ): Because of the devastating ( ) effects of climate change and deteriorating ( ) habitats ( ), several species of salmon in the Pacific Northwest are “on the brink of ( ) extinction ( ).”
Of the 14 species of salmon and steelhead trout in Washington state that have been deemed ( ) endangered ( ) and are protected under the Endangered Species Act, 10 are lagging ( ) recovery goals, and five are considered “in crisis,” according to the 2020 State of Salmon in Watersheds report.
“Time is running out,” said the report, which is produced every other year ( ) by the Washington state Recreation and Conservation Office. “The climate is changing, rivers are warming, habitat is diminishing ( ), and the natural systems that support salmon in the Pacific Northwest need help now more than ever.”
Researchers say recovery efforts — involving state and federal agencies, Native American tribes, local conservation groups and others — have helped slow the decline of some salmon populations. The report found that two species — the Hood Canal summer chum and Snake River fall chinook — were approaching ( ) their recovery goals. It also noted that no new salmon species had been added to the endangered list since 2007.
“We are at least treading water,” said Kaleen Cottingham, director of the Washington state Recreation and Conservation Office. “We have not, however, seen the kind of progress ( ) that we had hoped for.”
With the effects of climate change expected to accelerate ( ), researchers said that more must be done to prevent further population decline and the possible extinction of some species.
Salmon play a vital ( ) role in the environment, economy and culture of the Pacific Northwest. At least 138 species depend on salmon for their food in some way. Salmon support an estimated ( ) 16,000 jobs in the fishing industry, and they are a draw ( ) for tourists.
Before the 20th century, an estimated 10 million to 16 million adult salmon and steelhead trout returned annually to the Columbia River system. The current return of wild fish is 2% of that.
One of the largest factors inhibiting salmon recovery is habitat loss. A growing human population has led to development along the shoreline and the addition of bulkheads, or sea walls, that encroach ( ) on beaches where salmon generally find insects and other food. More pavement ( ) and hard surfaces have contributed to an increase in toxic stormwater runoff ( ) that pollutes Puget Sound.

Singaporeans are not competing only with foreigners physically here, but people all over the world. COVID-19 has taught many companies that “working from home” is just one step away from “working anywhere”.
Foreigners who are here in Singapore strengthen our team. They are our colleagues, and our neighbours and friends. During COVID-19, many worked on the front line, shoulder-to-shoulder with Singaporeans. They too have contributed to Singapore.
We must not turn our backs on them, and give the impression that Singapore is becoming xenophobic and hostile to foreigners. It would be disastrous for us, and it is not who we aspire to be.
We must make it crystal clear to the world that Singapore is determined to stay open, in order to earn a living for ourselves. These values helped transform Singapore from a population of immigrants into a cosmopolitan and vibrant country.

Singapore is a multiracial and multicultural country with ethnic Chinese (about 76% of the citizen population), Malays (15.0%), and ethnic Indians (7%). We also have Eurasians as well as other non-Singapore citizens in Singapore. Given our racial proportion, one would have imagined that our coffeeshops or foodcourts only have Chinese, Malay or Indian food but no matter what, there will always be one stall selling what we term affectionately as Western food. In case you're wondering how a Western food stall looks like in Singapore, just google it and there are plenty of images out there. Interestingly, the Western food we get at coffeeshops or foodcourts are usually marinated in Chinese style. :)) We grow up eating this type of Western food and we love it! My favourite order at a Western food stall is always chicken chop. Roland's favourite is mixed grill because he likes variety. What's yours?

As the land-scarce Hong Kong has been adding more floors on buildings to create more space, elevators that carry passengers up and down have become time capsules of urban development, integrated in various social spheres of everyday life. At present, the 69,755 elevators in the territory average out to one for every 108 people, the world’s highest elevator-to-population ratio.
As early as in 1888, Hong Kong saw its first elevator at the now-demolished Hong Kong Hotel. Lifts were still so uncommon in the beginning of the 20th century that their installation would make the news. In the ’50s and ’60s when Hong Kong’s economy started to take off, more lift manufacturers set up their offices in the former British colony, bringing the vertical cable shafts to more commercial buildings, shopping malls and traditional Chinese restaurants. Residential premises with elevators were considered luxurious properties, thanks to their rarity.
