We celebrated my boyfriend's birthday a little while ago. He picked one of his favorite French restaurants with both superb food and service. Each and every course was exquisitely delicious. I especially loved their baguettes which I'm pickiest about when it comes to French cuisine. I ate so much of it I almost didn't have any room left for my main courses. Their foie gras, my boyfriend's favorite, was practically unparalleled. Knowing we were celebrating a birthday, the restaurant even saw to it that my boyfriend received a unique birthday cake 'assembled' with their signature macaroons of different flavors.
However, the highest point of the night turned out to be the glass of red wine I ordered. I'm a very weird red wine drinker. Despite loving it, I never bothered learning much about those famous, uppity wineries. Instead, I usually let my own tongue do the choosing. So, whenever the sommelier presents me with his recommendations, I would just go with the one that tastes the best to me. So of course, why should this dinner be any different? Oh boy! I couldn't be more wrong. We had never come across any fine dining restaurant that would be crazy enough to crack open a bottle of fine red wine costing over 10 thousand dollars and sell it by the glass. And therefore I didn't bother asking the price assuming it would be around the usual price range. Time to get the bill and I was informed by the number on it that my glass of wine cost $500. I was flabbergasted. I'll be damned! No wonder it was as smooth as silk. My boyfriend ended up footing the bill. And I , I kept kicking myself, thinking that if I'd known it was so darn expensive, I wouldn't' have gulped it down so liberally, I would have savored it drop by tiny drop.😁

You just need Tempura flour and mayonnaise.
Double or triple this recipe to make as many as you want 😊
Whipped cream or ice cream filling is really good. It adds vanilla flavor and sweetness. Makes it moist and super delicious. Must try!
French Crullers are the top-selling donut at Mister Donut (donut shop) in Japan. Simple sugar glaze is my kids' favorite but in this video they ended up playing with the cream 😅
FYI: Tempura Flour (any brand is OK):

---------------------------------
2-Ingredient French Crullers
Difficulty: Very Easy
Time: 15min
Number of servings: 3 (3-Inch-round 1.5-Inch-height)
Ingredients:
160g (5.6oz.) Tempura flour https://amzn.to/3BXYIMp
4 tbsp. mayonnaise https://amzn.to/3yTRmHX
100ml water
deep frying oil
powdered sugar (confectioner's sugar)
whipped cream
Directions:
1. Put Tempura flour, mayonnaise, and 100ml water in a bowl and mix well with a spatula.
2. Transfer the batter into a pastry bag fitted with a large (0.6inch) star tip (Do NOT use a round tip or the batter will explode!!!). Pipe out 2 layers of rings onto a parchment paper.
3. Deep fry in oil at 180C (350F) until crisp golden brown.
4. Dust with powdered sugar or drizzle with sugar glaze (mix 3 tbsp. powdered sugar & 1 tsp. water). You can slice and place whipped cream or ice cream between the layers if you like!
I haven't tried but I think you can bake in oven at 180C (350F) for 15 minutes.

Pari-Pari means crispy in Japanese.
Healthy, Crispy yet Delicious! They were all gone within a few minutes! Kids are asking me to make it again 😋
I think getting an oil spray was my mistake 😅 Spraying will make a mess... You can toss with some oil in a bowl if you like to coat potatoes evenly 👍
My kids went to potato digging. This year we got many potatoes. BTW, previous years we made some french fries and croquettes 💖

Pari-Pari Baked Potato Chips (Healthy, Crispy yet Delicious)
Difficulty: VERY Easy
Time: 30min
Number of servings: 12 pieces
Ingredients:
400g (14oz.) potatoes
olive oil or other oil of your choice
500ml water
1 tsp. salt
Directions:
1. Wash, peel, and slice the potatoes (using a slicer is easy). Soak in salt water for 10 minutes to remove excess starch, release moisture, and add salt flavor.
2. Pat dry with paper towels. Place the sliced potatoes on the baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Spray the potatoes with oil OR you can put the sliced potatoes in a bowl, toss them with oil, then place them on parchment paper.
3. Bake in the oven at 200C (400F) until crisp golden brown for about 15 minutes.
4. Remove the brown slices, flip them over if needed, and cook more minutes until crisp golden brown. Keep an eye on them because they will brown up quickly.
5. Evenly sprinkle with salt to finish if needed.

Bonne chance!
